Someone posted a GIF picture of Hilfy recently to alt.binaries.pictures.misc. I have a copy of on walton.maths.tcd.ie directory in the pub/jaymin directory. If people don't have FTP I can post it to the list.

Since the discussions have, of late, ranged beyond what I've had time to read, this gif gives me something to talk about :)

I downloaded it and checked it out-- it's Hilfy, from the cover of _Chanur's Legacy_, and fairly good (though I'm looking at it retouched for a 9" black and white monitor, so I'm sure it could look better!) Thanks, Jo, for making it public. Now, I just need a startup sound to go with it... Hmmm.... Say, a male human voice mangling the hani word for "friend?"

Thanks for the tip about the Hilfy Chanur GIF file. I found it on the alt.binaries.pictures.misc bulliten board without too much trouble.

Did the picture look a bit dark to you? I distinctly remember the hani on the cover painting of "Chanur's Legacy" being a nice golden brown. In the GIF file, however, they look like they've rusted. Perhaps it's the way the picture was scanned. There also could be glitches in the GIF viewing software that's available at my site. (A third possibility is that the color mapping of my X-terminal is messed up. Ah, the joys of working with substandard equipment.)

I thought it was. I've got my own GIF viewer and added a function today to brighten images. It looks better when brightened. Will I make a brighter one available on walton?
I finally got around to uploading the Norway pictures. You can find them on walton.maths.tcd.ie in the pub/jaymin directory. They are called norway1.gif and norway2.gif. Both are from the cover of "The Company War" boardgame. The second is just an enlargement of the first. It is titled "The Battle for Pell" or something and shows the Norway breaking dock from Pell. I think it is by David Cherry.
If not enough people have ftp I'll post it uuencoded to the list or to alt.binaries.pictures.misc.

I thought it was a bit dark too. Fortunately I have written my own GIF viewer and could just add a function to brighten images. If you like I can upload the brightened image.
I have finally got around to uploading the two Norway gifs I have. They are in walton.maths.tcd.ie in the pub/jaymin directory. They are both from the cover to "The Company War" boardgame and depict the Norway breaking dock at Pell. The second is a closeup of the first. I think David Cherry painted it and it is titled "Assult on Pell".
If people can't grab them I'll post them uuencoded to the list.
