Duchy of Gattica

Capital of Cuisine! The vertile valleys of this land are known for the variety of food and, especially, the quality of the wine that they produce. The production of said wine is closely and jealously guarded and there are many varieties to choose from. Equally prised are their cheeses. Export, however, is difficult and many complicated agreements are needed.

It is ruled by an ArchDuke, seated at Avignon, and petty nobles, after the Roman fashion, although owing no aliegence to Rome. They have a fierce and proud independence and are immensely proud of their achievements and lose no opportunity to boast of them. They are members of The Amphictyony but continually test this by only token conformance to the free trade laws. They are very outspoken about opposing acceptance of The Bright Empire into The Amphictyony.

The citizens of this nation tend not to get on well dispite the many visitors to their nation. They speak a dialect of Common with a thick accent and use their own, curious, rendering of the Roman script. They worship gods after the Roman fashion.
