Westward Marches

Gaurdian of Civilization! The westward marches were the frontier of civilization of the Old Empire. As Sylvania fell to the Barbarians they redoubled their efforts and withheld. They never formally broke away from the Roman Empire but rather watched it disintegrate around them. In their legal tradition they are still a protectorate of the Empire but this has never been tested. They have been a supporter of The Amphictyony from the beginning but their insistence on maintainin their legions has prevented full membership. Special dispensation is being sought.

Their citizens are are full of civic virtue and consider it a daily duty to keep their vigil against the barbarians of Transylvania. They keep Justin's wall in repair and keep a fair aproximation of the Old Empire dress, language and gods.
